Do you gamble or bet? Online or analogue? Or all of the above? We offer a conversation about it – open-ended, free of charge and anonymous if you wish.
Frequent gambling and / or betting often brings problems with it. Financial worries, sleeping problems or arguments with important people can be among them. Some people are also afraid of losing their job or have problems finding one, others feel lonely and isolated.
Further mental stress or alcohol and drug use can be additional concerns.
What is currently bothering you and what you would like support with can be discussed here together on an individual basis.
We offer a variety of individual and group services.
1.) Individual counselling
In the one-to-one sessions, you will receive individually tailored information about your concerns. You can also have a diagnosis carried out and find out whether you gamble safely or whether you are at risk of addiction, for example. If necessary, we can also discuss which follow-up services might be suitable for you (e.g. self-help, treatment, etc.).
We will gladly take care of all the necessary steps (e.g. application or research) together with you. Make an uncomplicated appointment directly or contact us during our opening hours.
2.) Debt clarification
As a special offer, a debt counsellor is available to discuss your financial situation with you on a one-to-one basis. Please contact us for this.
3.) Group services
In our group offers you can meet people who have similar issues and experiences as you. This can help you not to feel alone and gives you the opportunity to benefit from each other’s knowledge. Our groups offer, among other things, recreational activities, therapy preparation, abstinence or reduction support.
You decide whether you want to visit us in person at the counselling centre or talk to us by video or phone. All our counsellors are trained professionals and also have different areas of expertise and competence (see “Team”).
We are happy to support you on your individual path back to more satisfaction.
Here you can take a self-test without obligation to find out whether your gambling already poses risks to you.
Answer the following 9 questions with yes or no to get the result.
(This test was created according to the diagnostic criteria for “pathological gambling behavior” of the DSM-5).
A person you care about gambles or bets conspicuously? Finds less time to see you? The mood is tense? You are worried?
Have you noticed increased behaviour possibly due to the Corona pandemic?
The negative consequences of gambling do not only affect the gambler himself, but also close people who then often try to take responsibility and improve the situation. This takes a lot of energy and does not always help. It is hard to find really helpful answers to another person’s gambling!
We offer you the opportunity to find out what can improve your situation. Regardless of your relationship to the person who is gambling, our services are always free of charge, open-ended and, if you wish, anonymous.
In a one-on-one conversation with experienced professionals, you can find out which options might be helpful in your specific case. You will also receive needs-oriented information on gambling addiction, gambler’s interdiction and other issues.
In our group programmes, you can get to know other people who are in a similar situation. This can help you to understand that you are not to blame and that you are not alone. You can also just listen in the group sessions; there is no obligation to talk about yourself.
Feel free to make an appointment here for an innocuous one-to-one talk or get in touch to register for a group. We can advise you in person, by phone or video, depending on your preference.
Since the topic of gambling is marginalised, i.e. not very visible and too often forgotten, we see it as our task to counteract this fact in cooperation with others.
When gambling is combined with other deprivations, it is often difficult for those affected to find suitable contact persons. As a consequence, important areas of life may receive less or no attention in the course of care. When considering intersectional perspectives, we cannot possibly have expertise in all areas; but we can cooperate with others!
We want to provide good care for people through good cooperation networks.
Our network naturally extends to institutions that are relevant to the topic – such as clinics, counselling centres, medical practitioners, etc. We would also like to establish contact with other organisations. In addition, we would also like to maintain contact with special institutions.
Feel free to contact us if you have the idea that a joint network could be worthwhile!
